Clinical Trial Center

Peninsula Urology Center, Inc. is an ongoing site for multiple clinical trials with a dedicated clinical trials director and coordinator. Dr. Chris Threatt and Dr. Dieter Bruno have participated in clinical research for over 6 years.  These studies have involved the following conditions:  Overactive Bladder, Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy.. BPH) Prostate Cancer, Prostate Cancer Prevention, Chronic Prostatitis,  Stress Incontinence, Male Erectile Dysfunction &  Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms. 

CURRENT CLINICAL TRIALS

Overactive Bladder: Females and Males 18 years or older.  Subjects who experience OAB symptoms such as frequency (urinating too often during the day) and urgency (a sudden and compelling desire to urinate that is difficult to retain with or without urge incontinence, such as leaking before you reach the toilet). This is an 18 week study requiring 6 visits to the office. Approximately 1821 subjects who are 18 or older will take part in this multinational study. Subjects will undergo screening which includes physical exam, medical history, ECG, bladder scan & questionnaires. There is no charge for participation in the study and subjects will be reimbursed for time & travel.

Prostate Cancer:  The purpose is to look at how well an approved drug for advanced prostate works intermittently as compared to continuous monthly dosing.  Approximately 400 men will be participating in the study.   The study is 16 months and will require 16 visits to the office.  Subjects will undergo screening which includes, physical exam, history, labs, ECG, bone scan within the last 6 months) & questionnaire.  There is no charge to the patient and participants will be compensated for time & travel.

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia: Males with BPH experience, urinary frequency. hesitancy, nocturia (getting up at night to urinate), dribbling, straining to urinate and weak force of urinary stream.  The study involves a single injection into the prostate.  Approximately 320 men will be participating.   Patients will be screened which includes, physical, history, ECG, Bladder scan, labs, questionnaire and prostate ultrasound for prostate sizing.  The study is 12 months and will include 10 visits.  Patients will be reimbursed for their time and travel and will not be charged for their participation in the study.

Chronic Prostatitis:  Males 18 years or older with moderate to severe pain due to chronic prostatitis or chronic pelvic pain syndrome.  This study is 18 weeks with 9 visits to the office.  Approximately 148 men will participate in this study.  Screening will include history, physical, neurological exam, ECG, questionnaires, labs including 4 glass culture & PK sampling.  Patients will not be charged for their participation and will be compensated for their time & travel.
